Time-Lapse Video Shows Rapid Replacement of Eight Nashville Bridges

The fast replacement of eight deteriorating bridges in downtown Nashville is shown in a time-lapse video on ENR.com. The Fast Fix 8 project used accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques to replace the four I-40 twin bridges (eight in total), completing the job in just 10 weekend highway closures, seven months ahead of schedule.

The three-minute clip shows TDOT crews working to replace the bridges, which were originally built in 1968. The ABC process allowed for short-term road closures for crews to do their jobs and the freedom to work around the clock, and enabled construction to be finished in months instead of years. All of the replacement bridges are steel.
